As many people are, I am passionate about the
standard things in life. Family is #1 and after that it is variety of
things from sports to technology. But I never really found passion when
it came to a career. I have liked jobs before to the point where I didn't
mind going to work but I never hopped out of bed excited for the work day to
get started.
That
all changed for me a few years ago when my wife and I made the decision for me
to go to a coding bootcamp. I did a ton of research and weighed my options.
I originally got into Dev Bootcamp in Chicago but it would be 9 months
before I could start. I couldn't wait that long to start a new career.
Then, we stumbled across a new school opening only 20 minutes from my
home, The Iron Yard Durham. I quickly enrolled and spent the next twelve
weeks learning Ruby on Rails.
This was the best decision I could have
made. I finally felt like I found the
passion I was missing in my career. I
enjoy waking up everyday knowing that when my day is finished, I will have learned
something new.
